Here's why you should travel the world alone, at least once/ by Huck Magazine

Just a few days ago I was so lucky to be interviewed by the great team of Huck Magazine

"Huck celebrates radical culture – people and movements that paddle against the flow. Inspired by DIY principles and rooted in the rebellious heritage of surf and skate, Huck roams the globe to document grassroots counterculture as it unfolds, seeking out freethinkers who are a wellspring of new thoughts and ideas."

On the occasion of the launch this summer of my "Of surf, waves and wanderlust" series, they asked me about how I ended up doing photography, chasing surfers in tropical destinations; and why I organize surf & yoga retreats.

This interview makes a little resume about my origins in Mexico, and how surfing and traveling changed my life completely. For me, traveling is one of the best experiences you can have. It allows us to ask ourselves about our world and develop our awareness of our everyday actions and our life in general.

Hope this text will inspire you to travel more and be confident out there.

Read the full interview here and thanks for sharing! http://www.huckmagazine.com/art-and-culture/photography-2/ale-romo/

Preparing for our next retreat... Bali, the Island of Gods!

As you know we will have our next Surf & Yoga retreat this January in Bali, the island of Gods.
This will be our first time offering a retreat in Bali and me and the girls organizing are nervous, but most of all excited to explore this new frontier all together to offer you a true catered and unique experience.
We are four girls organizing the whole, and each of us are specialized in the four areas to cover in this retreat, which are: surf, yoga, healthy food, and professional photography.

Well, exactly one year ago in November, we were preparing our first retreat in Nicaragua, at the beautiful beach of Maderas in the pacific coast. We had a tremendous time, and everything fell into place to had a very nice retreat.
From the participants, to the place itself & the owners,  the food and the amazing sunsets surfing, this trip was one of a kind, and we hope to repeat it next year for sure.

In the meantime, we were wondering that maybe you're thinking to come with us to Bali, but you're still not sure about how is the vibe of our retreats? Well, I just prepared a little resume of how the last year's retreat was and here in this link you have a few reviews of the participants last year available in Yogatrail.

If you have any doubt, don't hesitate to ask. We still have places for both dates in Bali and would love you to come with us, just send me an inquiry and I'll be happy to answer you anything

Go to this link to see what we prepared for you at the Bali retreat.

The Ultimate deluxe Surf, Yoga and Wellness retreat in Nicaragua

Good morning surfers!
As you all know, I've been all winter at the private beach of Playa Colorado, Nicaragua surfing warm water, taking pictures and connecting with great people in order to offer you more great retreats from where you'd rather be.
Five months of real training, wonderful sunsets, healthy food and uncrowded amazing waves.

In this time while I surfed twice per day the fabulous spot of Panga Drops, I get to connect with the amazing team of Mark & Dave's surf and yoga lodge and enjoy the great views from their infinity pool after my yoga practice with their Manager & Yoga director, Kim Tasker.

If you're as stoked as me for the surf, you know the importance of Yoga in your life for improving your elasticity, equilibrium and as a whole, connecting deeper with your body for quicker reactions and maneuvers.

Yoga helped me big way this winter, and I owe it all to my teacher.
Kimmy’s background is as a yoga teacher and massage therapist. She has been teaching Vinyasa yoga for over 15 years. Her passion for yoga took her from Yoga studios in London, to 5 star resorts, luxury yachts, Morocco and several destinations in Central America. She has worked in yoga teacher trainings and retreats with Surf MarocRed Jen Yoga California (see a retreat from Red Jen here)Holly Beck's -Surf with Amigas, and Catherine Halcombe to mention a few.

I connected so well with Kimmy that we started talking about offer to more people the same amazing experience I had during my winter, through a week of Surf, Yoga and Wellness Retreat at Mark & Dave's, located just in front of the world- class surf spot of Panga Drops, one of the bests of Nicaragua and Central America.

Finally after a few months of intense preparations, we are so proud to bring to you in collaboration with Mark & Dave's,  The Deluxe Surf, Yoga and Wellness retreat in Nicaragua- From November through March

You might be asking, how is life at Mark & Dave's. Let me break it down for you.
Mark & Dave's is... to wake up in the morning, walk out of your room or casita and view the waves breaking from the tranquil palapa. Sit back and sip your coffee, do Yoga and then relax on the sofas. During your stay, home will be in one of five private cabanas. This lodge was built by a team of local craftsmen in the traditional Nicaraguan style. The house sits on two acres of immaculate beachfront property and offers three incredible waves, infinity swimming pool & lap pool, and exclusive access to one of Nicaragua’s best golf courses.

The house’s greatest asset is the massive palapa lounge areas. When you’re out of the surf, you will find yourself relaxing in the palapas 95% of the time, checking out the waves, chilling out, listening to music, swinging in the hammock, playing ping pong/horse shoes/etc.
All of your meals are eaten in the open air, the definition of a great tropic vacation!

I could keep just describing the details about our vibe of the place, but sometimes a video say more, than thousand words.

See it by yourself..
